Installation of Thales Integrated Electronic Stand-by Instrument (ISFD V2+/NAV) - PN C16786AAA02
The Integrated Flight Display (ISFD) NAV is a solid state, instrument that provides attitude, slip/skid information, ILS localizer and glideslope along with VOR and DME display capabilities. Pitot and static inputs supply baro-corrected altitude, airspeed, vertical speed and Mach.
The installation of the ISFD eliminates the following conventional indicators: Standby Altimeter, Standby Air Speed, Standby Attitude/ILS indicators, and the Left Radio Distance Magnetic Indicator (RDMI). In line with Primary Flight Display symbology, the ISFD enhances the Human-Machine Interface, and provides additional information compared to conventional standby instruments. The only required inputs to the ISFD are 28V DC / 5V AC power and static and total pressure (PS and PT).
This STC adds the non-TSO functionality of selecting the course (ARINC label 024 is received by the instrument) via the VOR control panel that pilots use during normal flight procedures. This was a request by Icelandair pilots to minimize crew workload during emergency procedures. This non-TSO functionality will be ground tested in this STC process. The instrument is certified and developed to DO-254 Design Assurance Level B per ETSO
